Dear Friends, I am raising funds for Railway Children India.
Over the last 25 years, we have protected more than 100,000 children across 35 railway stations and institutionalised child protection within Indian Railways.
An estimated 18 million children live on the streets in India. Every five minutes, a child arrives alone at one of India’s busiest railway stations and immediately faces violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and trafficking. Reaching out to these children as early as possible while they are on a moving train or after they arrive at a bus or railway station is crucial for their protection, restoration, and rehabilitation. We aim to prevent children from slipping into a life on the street and suffering all of the harm and abuse we know that this can bring.
With our vision of “a world where no child ever has to live on the streets”. Currently, our work involves direct intervention across 4 railway stations and 1 bus station across 3 states.
- Protecting 4000+ children and getting them back to family.
- Preventing 1400 children, across 5 slum communities of Delhi NCR, from slipping into street life.
- Creating a safety net across Delhi Howrah railway network, spanning 66 railway stations and 35 districts, that can protect 35000 children in the next 5 years.
- As a resource organization for the Indian Railways, a key feature of our work includes training and sensitizing their staff on child protection and building a community of more than 5000 child protection champions, annually.
When we see the smile on the faces of children while they meet their parents again, it gives us the best motivation and motive to work and creates a world where no child ever has to live on the streets.
A big thank you to all those who have donated on this page.
Imagine the joy of crossing the finish line, knowing that every step you took helped a child reach back home safely. 💫
I'm excited to share that Railway Children India is participating in the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2023, on October 15th.
Let's come together, run together, and make a difference by sending these children back home, back to their families, where they truly belong.
See you at the starting line! 🏁🙌
